Give the gift of life Transplants are one of the most miraculous achievements of modern medicine. But they depend entirely on the generosity of donors and their families who are willing to make this life saving gift to others. Did you know you are more likely to need a transplant than become a donor ?
· A donor can
donate a heart, lungs, two kidneys, pancreas, liver and small bowel and
can restore the sight of two people by donating their corneas. You can find out more about organ donation and join the NHS Organ Donor Register by calling 0845 60 60 400 or visiting the UK Transplant website www.uktransplant.org.uk

CHADDESLEY SURGERY PATIENT'S GROUP Many members of the parish may not be aware of the Chaddesley Corbett Patient Participation Group which was set up some years ago in order to represent the interests of all those patients registered with the Surgery. The group, which comprises a G.P. and patient representatives, meets three or four times a year to liaise with the doctors and medical staff and to put forward and discuss patients' views on ways of improving the service provided. Where relevant, it considers the implications for the patients of NHS and local Primary Care Trust initiatives and directives, Over the years the group has heard various members of the surgery staff describing their roles and listened to representatives from the Health Authority and the local Primary Care Trust explaining the part they play in the Health Service. Members of the Group have participated in drawing up patient questionnaires and surveys and in discussing implementation of their results – there are now, for example, cushions on the waiting room seats! On all matters relating to the service provided by the doctors and staff of the Surgery, the Patient Participation Group is there to promote the interests of the patient. If you would like to learn more of its activities on your behalf or have any suggestions or views that you feel should be aired by the Group, please get in touch with either the Secretary, Trish Pardoe, tel: 01562 777446 or the Chairman, Trevor Kingsley-Curry, tel. 01562 777407 Other members of the Group currently are:- Joy Blakeway; Eric Carter; Caroline Dummer; Kate Griffiths; Olive Mason; David Mills; Ian Pardoe and Jasmine Williams.
