The Friends of the Village Association is in its fourth year and has over 160 members from all parts of the Parish. The main aim is to preserve the ambience and beauty of the village. Originally this referred to 'The Village' being the address for the centre of Chaddesley Village, but 15 months ago the constitution was amended to embrace the surrounding areas (undefined). It also sets out to support projects and tasks that will be of benefit to the Parish and to be a valued organisation within the Parish community. At our meetings items of current interest or contention are discussed, such as the new school, affordable housing, and any planning applications that may adversely affect the natural beauty and ambience of the village or its rural setting. Towards the end of last year it was perceived that the main thing spoiling the ambience and beauty of the village at that time was the parking problem and traffic congestion. The Association therefore formed a study group to brain storm the matter and a report for the Parish Council was produced which identified the sources of the problems and made a dozen or more suggestions (not recommendations) for consideration to alleviate the problems both immediately and long term. This was a factual exercise and not in any way political and was welcomed by the PC which used it as a basis for its own deliberations. The FVA also undertakes specific tasks from time to time to assist the Parish Council and runs a stall at the annual Village Fete. The elected officers of The Association are: · Chairman and acting Secretary: David Hislop 01562 777493· Vice-Chairman: Diane Dolley 01562 777841· Treasurer ; Terry Powick 01905 613623The appointed Membership Secretary is: Carole Hislop 01562 777493 New members will always be welcome and anyone interested in joining, or learning more about this Association, which has the interests of The Village at the heart of its constitution, should contact Carole Hislop (777493), or any of the Officers David Hislop-Chairman June 2008
